Elestrals

Today, we’re announcing new changes to the Elestrals TCG Banned & Restricted List, which will take effect on **October 24, 2025**.

Our philosophy is to intervene when specific cards or strategies dominate the environment to an undesirable degree or lead to unfavorable play experiences. We want to ensure multiple competitive decks are viable and that players have meaningful choices in their deckbuilding. With that in mind, we have three key changes to announce:

<span class="colour" style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">**Banned - Rise from the Ashes**</span>

In May, we limited Rise from the Ashes to one copy due to it being a swingy card that can have a disproportionate impact on the game. While this restriction was effective in the Firestorm format, the increased tools available in Lifestream have prompted a resurgence in this card’s usage in multiple strategies. In order to mitigate the volume of explosive turns without taking action against any specific threats in the developing format, Rise from the Ashes is **banned**.

<span class="colour" style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">**Banned - Hurricane**</span>

In July, we limited Hurricane to one copy due to its unrestricted ability to remove counterplay by destroying multiple Face-down Runes at once. Since then, Lifestream has provided players with both increased options for removing “backrow” Counter runes as well as increased rewards for doing so. As mentioned in the justification for Rise from the Ashes, the new format has many synergistic and powerful decks with strong combo turns. Global Rune destruction makes it too easy to get ahead and too hard to come back. As such, Hurricane is **banned**.

<span class="colour" style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">**Banned - Helios’ Chariot Ride**</span>

While Helios’ Chariot Ride has not faced any limits before now, the justification for action is very similar. Power turns become oppressive when it’s not possible to interact with them and this card disables an entire core component of Elestrals. While Chariot Ride has been around since the very start of the game, the leap forward in synergy from modern sets has created clearer opportunities for this card to protect board states and completely block reactivity. We’ve heard loud and clear that facing this card isn’t fun or interactive and we’re going to take immediate action. Helios’ Chariot Ride is <span class="colour" style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">**banned**.</span>
